Dear Friends and Family,
We apologize for how long it has been since an update. Firstly, thank you to everyone who showed their support through the bocci ball tournament. The love and care we felt through that more than we could have hoped for. It meant the world to us!
The radiation is complete. It was a 6 week, 5 days a week treatment. We are so thankful to our radiology team at Siteman Cancer center. Dr. Robinson and Nurse Mary Kay were incredible wonderful, supportive, and thorough. The side effects of the treatment came on slow but intensified as the weeks went on - they were mostly headaches, light-headedness, and fatigue. After being done with radiation for about a month, the side effects have decreased and Tony is feeling more back to normal.
On 3/20 and 3/21, we had a MRI scan and meetings with Dr. Leuthardt (surgeon), Dr. Campian (oncologist), and Dr. Robinson (radiologist). Things are looking as they should after surgery and radiation. We'll go back in 2-3 months for another follow-up MRI to make sure everything continues in the positive direction.
Chemotherapy will start Monday, 3/25. Tony will be taking Temozolomide (Temodar) which is an oral chemotherapy drug. The plan right now is for Tony to take the pill for 5 days, then be off for 23 days, and repeat the cycle for up to 12 rounds. We're not exactly sure what this next phase will bring but we do know that the continued love and support we get from all of you helps us through it.
Save the Date: St. Louis Head for the Cure race 6/23/19 in Forest Park. Tony's Full Frontal Lobes team will be back! We will send out more information about the race and the team soon.
