Tony’s Story

Site created on September 24, 2018

Welcome to our Caring Bridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Tony was diagnosed with a grade 4 Gliosarcoma  (brain cancer) in early January 2018.  Sadly, this is an incurable type of cancer.  Tony underwent surgery to remove the tumor followed by several months of radiation and chemotherapy.  He has had many ups and downs along the way that have required recurrent hospitalizations and medical interventions.
As a result of his tumor, he has experienced changes in his vision, difficulty with balance and low energy.  He has worked hard with physical therapy in attempts to compensate for this.  In late June, he had another brain surgery to place a shunt  in his brain to help drain extra fluid that had accumulated.   Since that time, he has been focused on recovery and building up strength.  MRI scans are done every 8 weeks to track the status of the tumor.  To say the least, it has not been an easy road.  We appreciate the continued support of our friends and family.   It means more to us than you will ever know!

Gratefully,
Tony, Ruth, Austin, Charlie and Henry
