Journal
Hi!
I'm making this caringbridge so it's easier to update people.
I arrived in Edmonton Monday night and I am staying at Sorentino's Compassion House. It is a huge home close to the Cross Cancer Institute for women who don't live in Edmonton and are here for cancer treatment. Everyone here has been really nice and supportive and I am so grateful to be here, especially since it isn't safe for me go anywhere due to Covid.
Yesterday I had an MRI which was a weird experience to say the least but at least now I have one thing done. I'm ready to be moving forward and fighting back.
I am meeting with my surgeon on Friday. While I was in Yellowknife, he made a tentative plan for me and we met over Zoom. He is probably reviewing my MRI results right now and also needs to assess me in person. Once that is done, we will either move forward with the plan or maybe do something different. Right now there is an OR booked for me on the 15th to have a lumpectomy. Right now that is the plan but it could change.
I'm keeping busy here waiting for my Friday appointment by studying for nursing school. I'm on track to still successfully complete all my classes this semester. I'm planning on taking two classes online in January.
Thank you to everyone. There has been such an outpouring of kindness to my family and I. I worry so much about how this will affect my kids, especially with me away on medical travel. I appreciate everything people have done to help ensure the kids have an absolutely amazing, magical Christmas.
