How to say that the day doesn’t work for us sounds as bad as it feels. We are sad we can’t make the date work. Please know our hearts and thoughts are with Tom and all of you. We are deeply saddened and sorry for the loss we are all feeling.

I am crushed. I was so afraid this would be the case. I am taking my first vacation in 14 years and I will be out of the country. I return on October 6th. I am so sorry I won’t be able to attend. I will definitely be there in spirit. The one thing that makes me feel better is that Tom knew about this trip and was glad that I was doing something special to honor my 50th.

Dear Connie, I will miss Tom so much. But not nearly as much as you and your Dad and Terri. I remember when i first met Tom and your family. He was just a little boy. I knew then he was special.
