Tom’s Story

Site created on March 30, 2021

Welcome to Tom's  CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Tom has always been a dynamic, outgoing personality with a zest for life......he has survived other dire situations and has fought them with passionate resolve.
Tom's 2nd Cancer journey started January 2017. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Renal Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer that has spread to other areas of the body). He was told he was terminal and likely did not have long to live. He has received a number of treatments from several Oncolgists; and the cancer has had very little growth in the last 4 years. He was admitted to the hospital with severe dehydration and beginning stages of kidney failure on Halloween 2020. This was caused by persistent diarrhea from one of the treatments he was receiving. Decision was made to hold treatment for a short period of time to allow his kidneys to recover.
New treatment was started in January; but we received news 3/13/21 that the cancer is rapidly spreading despite multiple treatments; including radiation. He is very weak; but determined to continue to fight. His oncologist has decided to stop all cancer treatment; and communicated that he did not have any other treatment available at this time.
We will share updates; pictures; and progress as time goes on. He wants you all to know he loves you.  Please share pictures; stories; and messages here so we can share with Tom and you.
