Tom’s Story

Site created on April 6, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated.

Tom had been dealing with complications following an elective hernia repair surgery on March 11th. He had excellent care at Adirondack Medical Center but his condition worsened following an urgent bowel resection and he required transfer to Albany Medical Center where he died at 4:02 on April 7, 2019.

Tom was loved by so many and we are all so grateful for your support!  See below posts for information on arrangements.

Journal entry by Alison Riley-clark

Tomorrow would have been Tom's 76th birthday - a day he fully expected to celebrate - well, maybe celebrate isn't the right word as we never did too much for his birthday as it always fell during camp. But he loved being sung to in the dining room and going out to dinner with friends or family and of course having a beer!  I miss him deeply every minute, but am so grateful for all the memories and sweet sharing from so many people - he gave me the gift of Emily, Brenden and Stephen as well as the Treetops/North Country School family that extends around the world.  Weren't we lucky to have had him for as long as we did?  There will be a memorial service during Friends Weekend for Tom - probably on the steps of his beloved wood shop on Friday August 23rd at 10:30 - please join us in celebrating and honoring Tom in the place he loved most.  https://camptreetops.org/give-back/friends-weekend/
