Dearest Sue, I am so sad for your loss. I did not know Tom well, however spent some brief visits in Washington State, particularly on the coast and Orcas Island, and of course our great trip to New Orleans with the cousins! He seemed a wonderful man, and the love of your life. I am so so sorry. Would love to be there this week for his memorial to support you, but know that we are sending lots of love and hugs from Washington State! Tami Thomas Houser

Dear Sue, while I did not know Tom well, I have always heard what a great guy that he was and that he was the love of your life. We are sad for your loss, but grateful that you and Tom had so much time together. As you move forward in this next phase of your life, I hope you will be empowered by all of your wonderful memories of Tom. Our family is thinking about you. Love James Scott

I always loved Tom in that way you love a friend who's been with you almost all your life, it seems, as you seemed to be in his. He steered me through such dark days after my Tom died in 2003, always making me smile and even laugh at times. I can't believe he's gone. I wish he weren't. I wish I could have a drink with him and talk about how absurd it all is and, yet, how wonderful. He used up every second of his life, it seemed to me, being creative and brave and loving.

Dear Sue, How beautiful that you were with Tom until his last breath. My thoughts and energy are with you and your family. I am so glad I met Tom. It was in your home several years ago. I did no t know Tom well but I feel his spirit strong and vibrant and gentle and caring. Thank you for sharing these words - Tom's and others' - for a glimpse into his heart which apparently was big and bright and embracing and also, his Achilles heel. May you find peace knowing his words and memory will live long in your heart and mind. John and Rob join me in sending all our love.

Rest In Peace, Tom. We shared many great times and experiences due to our children, place of work and a love of students. Sue, Dan and Winnie know that our prayers and thoughts are with you. Tom was a friend, colleague and a wonderful person. We are blessed to have known him. Pat and Tom Stevens

Sue, you made Tom's final years happy and that is wonderful. He and the children and grandchildren will continue as a family because of you. He left a caring, loving family and I will grieve with you because Tom was so special.
Love to all, Betty

Feeling is sad. Seems like I’ve lost a long time friend. That’s the lasting impression from our first meet over a year ago. I judge because I got to see his heart. Not an easy task for me. You will be missed my friend. Condolences to his family.
