Tina’s Story

Site created on October 12, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Tina. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
The pandemic has thrown more at the Fishers than one family should have to handle. Tina and Bob had both spent 20+ years with their employees, and in the same week this September became unemployed. This meant losing their benefits, changing to COBRA, and restarting with ridiculous premiums and deductibles.
With her newly open schedule, Tina decided to catch up on her routine medical visits. She started at the eye doctor to get some cute new glasses and ended up with a referral to a neurologist. The pressures behind her eye were really high and concerning. A week later she went for the MRI and within an hour got a call from her neurologist telling her to come in that day. She knew it couldn't be good. By the end of that day she had been admitted to Jefferson and knew she was facing brain surgery.

Tina was diagnosed with a Grade I, hopefully benign, Meningioma brain tumor. The tumor is the size of a large lemon sitting behind her right eye and has probably been growing for half her life. While in hindsight she realizes that those sinus headaches and pressure were probably the tumor, she feels blessed that she never had a catastrophic seizure or symptom.  That simple trip to the eye doctor saved her from having permanent vision and motor losses that would have eventually come.
She will be having a craniotomy surgery on Thursday October 22nd down at Jefferson.  This is expected to be a '4 to 10 hour surgery's, she has a great surgeon who said "this tumor is a big deal....it's just not a big deal to me".
Kara and I will post updates on this Caring Bridge site as we have updates. Thank you all for your love, prayers and support!

Just heard from Tina and surgery went well. She's uncomfortable but hoping medication kicks in quickly for relief. Keep those prayers going for a boring recovery and tumor analysis. ❤️
