Tim’s Story

Site created on September 27, 2021

On September 14th Dad began showing the symptoms of covid. After trying to fight it out for many days at home he was admitted to the hospital on September 25th. Dad is currently on the covid unit at Sentara Williamsburg. Due to being positive for covid he cannot have my Mom there with him.  Dad has been working the front lines in the ER since covid began and has been a nurse for over 23 years.  Being on the other side is difficult. My Mom and Dad have appreciated everyone's calls and texts so much. I will continue to update this site each day with his progress so that you can get the information from here. Please keep Tim in your thoughts and prayers. You can also add words of encouragement here for him. Thank you.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Laura Cherry

Dad had a really great night! During the video chat last night he looked so good. He is continuing to maintain a great oxygen saturation on a nasal cannula.

Dad has been cleared to go home!! His home oxygen and oxygenator was delivered this afternoon and he got the green light to head HOME!

I cannot say how thankful our family is to all of the staff at Sentara Williamsburg. Everyone that came into his room was great. He would chat each night about the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, techs, dietary, cleaning service . EVERYONE was wonderful.  All of that kindness and positivity plays such a huge role in the healing process. If I could give  every single person a hug I would!  My Mom and I cannot thank the  hospital staff enough for the care he was provided.

Thank you everyone that has reached out to my Mom and I asking if we needed anything. We appreciate you caring about us and it really meant a lot.

Dad will continue on home oxygen for several weeks. He will also need to stay on a blood thinner for several months. Each day is progress and he has come so far. We are very proud of how hard he is working to get better.

I honestly had no idea when this started how it was going to go. We were all hopeful but terrified. I am happy to say my Dads journey had a great outcome.   I am so thankful to have Dad back home. I am happy to report this will be my last update.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement. We appreciate you all so much. ❤️
