Journal entry by Stacie Carney

When Tim left the hospital we had to make daily trips to the hospital the first week, then MWF, then once a week.  Today was the first time Tim walked from the car in the parking garage to the doctor's office and back without a wheelchair.  When we went today, he doesn't have to return for almost 3 weeks!  This is good news, but there are other doctors that need to be seen in the meantime.  He has a CT scan to make sure the pneumonia is gone, and a follow-up for the results.  His cough is almost gone.  He should consult his cardiologist as his blood pressure is on the low end.  He has to gather himself when he stands or he gets dizzy.  He was on 3 meds for blood pressure.  He has lost about 30 lbs. and that much medication is probably not needed anymore.  He still has some restrictions about being in crowds, cutting grass, driving, and so on, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

After we went to that appointment, we headed across the street to the surgeon who put the central line in Tim's chest and he removed it.  This will give him more freedom in things like bathing. He had mixed feelings about losing the line as it made drawing blood so easy, now he'll have to get stuck!
