Newest Update

Journal entry by Elizabeth Arnce

Hi everyone! It has been a little while since I made a post so I thought I would update today. Tim is continuing to do really well with physical therapy. He did have a few days of a lot of pain in his back this week. He was very stiff and uncomfortable. He still did his routine and walked on the treadmill even though he didn't feel great. Today at PT he had some evaluations. They evaluated his balance, strength, walking, and dexterity. He is in the normal range for balance and walking. He is in the low normal range, but has typical balance and walking. He is making big improvements in all the other areas. He is near to normal in most areas. His hand strength has increased from around the 14 range to around 40 in each hand. Typical is in the 50s and above. They believe he will get that back. He does have some loss of muscle in his arms and they are not as strong as they once were, but he wants to try and build that back up. They also tested the range of motion in his neck and there is very limited movement left to right and up to down. Tim is driving a lot more. We have practiced in our neighborhood and he is now driving to rehab on his own. He isn't getting on the highway yet as he has some nerves about that and he is also learning how to drive without turning his head. He has to turn his torso and utilize the mirrors and backup camera much more. Overall things are going really well. No major set backs at this time, just a lot of working to build up strength and stamina.
