Newest Update

Journal entry by Judith Rey

Latest updates from Sunday to today from Adrienne

They stopped the tube feeds for a while. They took the catheter out Sunday and put it back in Monday so they could track her urine output. Her numbers are still coming down but are still high so dialysis is still a possibility. The internist wanted to have TPN started which is an IV form of feeding but it’s done trough a central line and that means those veins would no longer be able to be used for dialysis so until dialysis has been definitely ruled out TPN is a no at this point.
She’s had a fever and they can’t figure out why since she’s on antibiotics. They have her on a cooling blanket to try and help but it’s still at 101.1. They did a CT scan today to make sure there wasn’t anything in the surgical area that was causing the fevers. They didn’t find anything.
Her breathing is consistently faster than it has been which isn’t great but her BP was good today.
The internist told me Sunday that she thinks mom will be in the ICU a few more weeks before she’s able to go to rehab for 12-18 months, and hopefully then be somewhere near the person she was before this all started.
