Journal entry by Tim Lutz —
I started my Optune therapy treatment on March 20. Optune is a cap that I wear on my head that works to stop the cancer from returning by hitting the cancer cells with a low-intensity electrical fields and ultrasound frequencies. The alternating electricity disrupts the ability of the fast-growing cancer cells to divide and multiply but doesn’t harm the slow-growing normal brain cells. Research shows that the longer the patients wore the arrays, the longer they lived. Those who had the device active for 22 to 24 hours a day lived an average of 25 months, compared with those who had the device active for 16 to 18 hours a day and lived for an average of 18 months.
