Journal entry by Joleen Hocking

It's been awhile and we just wanted to share a little news as we end 2018 and start forward with 2019.  Dad went in at the beginning of November for his second round of chemo.  He was there Tuesday 11/6 through Saturday 11/10.  They do it a little different than his first round.  First day is really hard chemo for 12 hours and then a day of rest, 3rd day chemo, 4th day rest, and 5th day chemo and discharge.  They fully expected him to be in the following week for a fever or something.  He had a couple blood transfusions but felt really great and stayed out of the hospital.  It was just before Thanksgiving when he spiked a fever and they admitted him to Meriter but he was discharged the day before Thanksgiving.  Not wanting to take any chances, Cari and one of her boys had been sick, so they spent the holiday away from dad.

Dad went back in on Dec 7 for a bone marrow biopsy and then had a follow up with his oncologist on Dec 11.  He is on track to start his next round of chemo on Tues 12/18 through 12/22.  His last biopsy showed some blasts that didn't exactly sit well with his oncologist, but this time those blasts were all gone!  Everything looks clean and clear of cancer still.

2018 has been a year of struggle for sure!  But as the year comes to a close, it really doesn't matter what you're facing, Love will see you through.  We hope everyone has a safe Holiday season!  Cherish the moments you have this season with all your loved ones. Take that extra picture or spend the extra hour with family.  Merry Christmas from the Hockings
