I went to UPENN with Pat and Colleen for my 1st appointment.  We met with a radiation oncologist, Dr. Swisher-McClure and his medical team.  They spent a lot of time with us, answering our questions and concerns.  I felt comfortable with them and that they would take good care of me.  They did a scope to view the mass and discussed next steps...  radiation treatment would be daily Monday thru Friday for 7 weeks with some chemotherapy as well.  I would next need to meet with with medical oncologist, have Petscan, MRI, Cat-scan, meet with a social worker as well as a dietician, audiologist and speech pathologist.  My head was spinning but the doctors helped put me at ease.  They told me not to change my diet or do anything differently prior to treatment.  It’s important to maintain my current weight so that the radiation mask fits to a tee throughout treatment.
