As some of you have been made aware that Tim has recently been diagnosed with a rare brain disease. The disease is a rare neurological degenerative disorder that is currently incurable and unfortunately fatal. Our family recently received this shocking diagnosis as Tim started presenting symptoms on June 18th (2022) and has rapidly declined since. As our entire family is hopefully optimistic for Tim's health to return to normal, the reality of the situation has us preparing for his end of life.
Timothy Durnford, Son of Edie Oliver (Durnford) & Gerald J. Durnford, husband to Susan Durnford, Father to Kat and Phil Durnford and brother to John, Joe, Ed, and Jerome Durnford.
Tim was born on July 1st, 1961 in Omaha Nebraska in corn country, was raised right outside of Denver CO, attended Northglenn High School, and graduated from Colorado State University where he eventually met Susan.
After graduation, Tim went to work as the youngest GM at the Old Spaghetti Factory in San Diego California, where Susan followed him and where they eventually became engaged.
After their engagement, they were married in St. Louis and moved to back to Denver where Kat was born in January 1990 while Tim awaited his acceptance letter to the Cornell Statler Hotel School in Ithaca NY.
Once accepted to Cornell and attending the Hotel School, Phil was born in 1991. Post-graduation Tim was offered a full-time job at the Hotel school to work for Rick Kuhar which led to 25 more years in Ithaca NY raising his family and retiring from Cornell as the Associate Dean at the Cornell Hotel School.
In 2019, Tim and Susan moved to Las Vegas where Tim took the role of Associate Dean at the Harrah College of Hospitality at UNLV to be closer to their two children who were in San Diego and Salt Lake City.
We are currently in Denver CO, where Tim is closest to his family and the proper medical care given his diagnosis.
