Journal entry by Kevin Taylor —
We have been back home for just about two weeks now! We are both happy to be able to relax and be at home.
Tiia has to do bloodwork once per week here in Vanderhoof. The Doctor explained that this is to keep an eye on her blood counts across the board while she tapers off Cyclosporine. Tiia will have to do bloodwork every week for a while, but it will become less and less often as time goes on.
At the end of June, Tiia has a zoom appointment with her Doctor in Vancouver, and we will go to Vancouver for an in-person appointment end of July. The appointments will remain monthly for a while and become further apart as time goes on.
Our three girls are ecstatic to be home and have their friends back! They have been amazing little helpers as we settle back in and re-organize our place with some new stuff. They have also been helping Tiia with the day-to-day stuff while I am at work.
Tiia has continued to do really well, slowly gaining back her energy and her hair is growing quickly, and coming in really dark!
I probably won't be on to update very much in the future, but I will every once in a while when there is something new. No news is good news!
We are through the worst of this trial, but there is still a long way to go. GVHD can still arise and Tiia is at high risk of relapse for two years. We have no reason to believe that these things will happen, but we do know that it is a possibility.
Please continue to pray for us, as those prayers have carried us through many difficult days.
