Tiffany’s Story

Site created on January 31, 2021

Each person living with cancer has a story to tell, there will be ups and downs, twists, and turns. Through it all Jason, Tiffany and Katelynn are putting their faith in God. Tiffany was diagnosed with endometrial adenosarcoma at the end of January. The family has been praying that the Lord would put good people in their path on this journey. During Tiffany’s first appointment with her oncologist, she was wearing a t-shirt that said, “She is strong” Proverbs 31:25. The doctor asked Tiffany why she picked that verse. She explained to him that a friend gave her the shirt to wear that day and her friend was wearing the same shirt for Tiffany that same day. The doctor then asked Tiffany “where does your strength come from”? She replied, “Jesus” He then said, “you’re right, and it has always been there, it just has to come out more now”. The doctor extended his hands to Jason and Tiffany and asked if he could pray with them before they left the appointment.

On February 4th Tiffany had her first PET scan which revealed that the cancer is only in the uterus. This was the good news that Tiffany’s family and friends had been praying for. This means the next step is Surgery. Tiffany will be having a robotic hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, sentinel lymph node mapping, pelvic and aortic lymphadenectomy on February 17th. She is asking family and friends to continue praying for that day. While February 4th was filled with good news in a bad situation, Tiffany’s doctor reminded Jason and Tiffany that we cannot get ahead of ourselves. After surgery they will put the lymph nodes under a microscope to look for tiny cancer cells. There will be many tests being run after surgery and we do not know what the future holds. The bible tells us in Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Day by day Tiffany and Jason are learning to take this one day at a time and keeping their focus on God’s greater plan. Every day the family finds something to laugh at and they are so grateful for laughter.

Praise GOD!!! On February 25th Tiffany met with her oncologist for a post op visit and to discuss the next steps in this journey. He is happy with the progress of her recovery from surgery, he thinks in two or three more weeks she will be feeling very good. Dr. Pikaart feels like Tiffany’s prognosis is excellent, chemo and radiation are not necessary. The margins and lymph nodes that he took during surgery came back clear of cancer. The pathologist staged the cancer as stage II due to the fact that it is rare and how and where the tumor was growing. It is suggested for stage II uterine sarcoma to do anti-hormone therapy and observations. Tiffany will have to have an exam with her oncologist every 3 months for two years and scans every 6 months for five years. She will be starting the anti-hormone therapy soon. Dr. Pikaart will be taking Tiffany’s case to the tumor broad, which is comprised of himself, and other cancer specialist to review and examine her case. He does not believe that this will change the trajectory of her treatment plan.

Thank you for all of the love and support, Jason and Tiffany are beyond grateful for all the prayers that they have received and will be grateful for the continued future prayers.
