Newest Update

Journal entry by Tiffany Thompson

Hi my sweet friends and family! I am so sorry I've not updated this site often enough to keep you all in the loop on how things are going. I have found the farther I go into treatment, the less energy or focus I've had to write or do much else! My work brings me great joy, so I've been working in between my chemos, but that's about all I've been good for lately! (:

I'm going in for chemo #5 of 6 today. Each round has been different and has brought expected and new side effects along with them, but I really have been blessed through this. I've stayed healthy and well and other than the ongoing side effect of fatigue, I cannot complain. I'm anxious to get this hard phase of my treatment over with in just a few more short weeks!

I was disappointed last week to learn that I do need radiation. I knew it was a possibility, but wasn't sure it would be necessary. Before my appointment I prayed for a very clear message so I could have peace that it was the right route to take, and I did receive that very clear message so I have no doubt it's the right thing to do. I will have radiation every day for 5 weeks, likely starting end of April/early May after I finish chemo and have an oophorectomy (ovaries removed) along with step 2 of my breast reconstruction completed. Fortunately, I can get the last radiation appointment each day at the cancer center only 2 miles from my home and will be able to work and maintain a pretty normal schedule. I will still be receiving targeted therapy infusions every 3 weeks through October, which should be a breeze compared to this nasty chemo!

All this to say, in the past week my attitude has been one more of gratitude and praise than disappointment. I truly am thankful to have a team of amazing physicians caring for me, who have thoroughly studied my case and pathology and have taken it to other oncology experts to make the best decisions for my future health. They are doing everything possible to prevent a future recurrence of cancer and for that I am so grateful. Thanking God for the gift of medicine. My prognosis is excellent and I will have decades to live - just gotta get through this stuff first! (:

Thank you all for your continued love and prayers. They have made such a difference for me on this journey. You all continue to fill my tank, giving me strength and courage for the rest of this battle. You are a blessing to me.

Love, Tiffany
