Journal entry by Pam Wolfe

To all my friends and family some of you have been already been told by me individually of what I have been going thru. For those of you that haven’t it was just my choice.
If you have been close to me you would know breast cancer awareness was always something close to my heart, that and scoliosis awareness. Most of you know through the years I have fought and mostly beaten scoliosis.
Well October is right around the corner. October is breast cancer awareness. This year it holds a special meaning for me. I missed my mammogram the year of Covid. So this year I had my mammogram. At first they didn’t think anything of it but wanted clearer pictures of two questionable areas. So I went back up to my local hospital for an ultrasound.
Then the waiting it was suggested after the ultrasound I go to the next biggest town for a biopsy. That was done on august 26 th. They told me I would be waiting for 7-10 days for the report. I was officially declared a breast cancer patient on august 30 th.
All the dreams I had now seem a distant past. No longer attainable. On wed I saw my first oncologist 6 months of chemo then surgery then more chemo or radiation followed with lifelong drug therapy. But first a pet scan to see if it has spread.
The moral of this journey or story of mine. Breast cancer awareness month is coming up if you need a reason to face your fears and get one done . Then do it for me. I don’t want anyone I know to be traveling this same path if it is avoidable.
Keep positive thoughts for everyone.
