Thor had been suffering from Anemia and over the past year or two his blood counts have been dropping.  This lead to a diagnosis of Myelofibrosis which is a rare type of blood cancer; in which the bone marrow (the soft, spongy tissue inside most bones) is replaced by fibrous scar tissue. It is considered a form of chronic leukemia.  At this point Blast Cells are now detected and he has an additional diagnosis of Acute Leukemia.  Unfortunately there is no cure and  the doctor expect ongoing chemotherapy treatments to help extend his life.
