Dear Michelle,

I received the following email message from Chuck Haberman, a fellow alumnus of Collegiate School with Tom and me. I sent him the Caring Bridge link and an invitation to follow Tom's updates, and Tom's email address (t.wolfson@comcast.net). Perhaps you could mention Charley Haberman (and me) to Tom. I think of him often and with love for a dear friend who goes back 70 years.

From Chuck Haberman: "Hey David, Thanks for the help in finding Tomas. I am unaware of any way
to contact him. Do you know a way that mere "civilians" can share info
with him?

I'm living in an assisted living facility, now. Life just began to
overwhelm me and I finally gave in. I gave my dog to my son Christopher
(named for our friend). I can't say that I'm "happy" but I guess that
for the moment I can deal with it. Don't ever come to Southern Illinois.
I'm doing independent "gardening" work and maintaining an trying to make
the place more happy by attracting birds. I'm just getting started. I'll
need some management support but I'll keep you posted.

The hummingbirds are about to grace us with their return. I invested in
a new-style feeder to augment the regular one and it'll be a test.

We'll talk more later, Chuck H"

Dear Michelle & Tom,
I have thought of you both often and I’m sorry I haven’t written until now. I have also been going through some health issues which are not easy to navigate but I feel that I’m strong mentally & spiritually and physically able to still hike now and then to take care of myself.

I tried to write a letter some time ago. It was a pretty long one, but I just kind of held onto it too long and then I couldn’t find it so this is my make up letter.

Tom I have so appreciated over the years how you have kept me in the loop informing me of your plays and autobiography and your search for the spirit of all of life. I am in awe of who you are and what a good friend you’ve been to me even though we didn’t write back-and-forth very often. I always felt a keen sense of your care, and have fond memories of the days when we all lived in the same house together. I pray for you, Tom & Michelle, for I know that what you’re up against hasn’t been easy. I’m so happy to hear how ones have come to your rescue financially and as loyal friends and all the help you’re getting through hospice is just remarkable. I’d love to send my love and a big hug to you; just know I care even though I haven’t seen you in years nor have I communicated very much at all. God bless you & keep you in the arms of God.

I think of you both often. Just the other day I was grooming a small horse's unruly mane and had to tell Blue that she looked just like my friend Tom when he played the Rod Stewartesque rock star in FF and would wear his blonde punk rock wig. I laughed aloud, Blue seemed nonplussed but I carried the smile of my Tom memory throughout the day until I could get home to share it with Marcus who smiled too. Dear Michelle, please give yourself permission to allow for whatever you need: joy, laughter, tears, comfort, sorrow, fear, peace, lightness. Will send a messenger text with photo 😉❤️
