Theresa’s Story

Site created on February 15, 2019

Mammogram revealed a suspicious area and guided biopsy revealed HER-2 positive breast cancer. With genetic history for cancer the risk is always present, but we were hoping for a " no cancer" diagnosis.
The next year will prove daunting to the family, 6 rounds of the strongest Chemo, then surgery, followed by 4 more rounds of Chemo and possibly Radiation.

Journal entry by Theresa Halvorson

Received Herceptin and saw the Oncologist on Tuesday October 1st. I will have an echocardiagram in 2 weeks to make sure the Herceptin isn't hurting my heart.I am sick of feeling sick, so I asked if I could skip the last 2 doses of Herceptin and be done with it at the end of the year and go back to work in January. She agreed with that plan. Thank God!! I haven't talked much about this, but chemo brain is still a problem. I will be starting Occupational therapy for that. That's like Physical therapy, but for the brain. Severe insomnia still happening. Going to try Ambien. I asked about re scanning to make sure it is gone. She said no re scan unless I have symptoms. I am not comfortable with that plan and will readdress that later. Have been able to stabilize my weight despite very little appetite. Going to focus on getting stronger. Love and Hugs to you all!  💖❤️💖❤️
