Newest Update

Journal entry by Tiffany Power

Well, we were finally given some answers today and have pieced together a lot.

Dads body did not like the new liver he received. So his body attacked it and closed the main artery in the liver causing a hematoma. They assume his body started to fight the new organ as soon as it was moved over.

Due to his body attacking his new liver it’s caused a huge infection in the liver. So they did the surgery to reroute the liver and clear out a lot of the infection. This is why they left the scar open all weekend with a wound vac was to suck out a lot of the infection.
He really needs a new liver however the timeline of that is unknown.

He currently has encephalitis (inflammation of his brain) which is causing him to think the year is 1994 however, he does know his name and date of birth they say...His team will not be worried about this unless it continues after 48-72 hours they state that since he was under sedation from Friday to Monday that mental confusion is expected.

They’re also giving him oxygen due to having low oxygen levels in his bloodstream which is causing them to take constant blood gasses every hour.

Please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers just because I do know that he’s fighting like hell but he’s been through so much.
