Good afternoon,

Since my last update a little over  a week ago, Aunt Tessie's  condition has been a bit fluid, but mostly trending upward.  She continues to be on target to return home on Wednesday

She is making significant progress in the area physical rehabilitation, and is able to walk and climb steps without a walker with minor assistance.   She is remains slightly anemic, but her blood oxygen level, and heart functions are very good, and she is in very good spirits.  The plan is for her to visit her PCP on the day following her discharge date.

Aunt Tessie, Liz, Tere, and I want to again thank you all for the support and love.  It means a lot. We will follow-up on Wednesday or Thursday.

Good afternoon,

I had a breif facetime conversation with Aunt Tessie a short time ago.  She looks and sounds great.  For all intents and purposes she has kicked COVID's butt. Hard.

She remains in the rehab center at Maria Regina and is beginning intensive rehab physical therapy focusing on her lower extremities. I have met with her care team, social worker and the director of pastoral services and can attest to their kindness, compassion, and committment to get her back to baseline and home.  They really are a terrific group.

It will not be long before she is back to her old routine - cleaning, exercising, cooking and grocery shopping.

Thanks once again for all of your love and support.

Good evening,

Aunt Tessie was just discharged from the hospital, and is being transported to an in-patient rehab facility as I write this. Beginning tomorrow, she will begin receiving daily 90 minute sub-acute rehab therapy.

The facility is Maria Regina in Brentwood NY.  It is a Catholic facility and she will have a private room. We are hoping her stay will be a relatively short one and that she will be home soon.

She sends her love as do we all.

Good evening,

Earler today, Aunt Tessie received  negative PCR  test result.  If all goes well, it is POSSIBLE she can be discharged to a rehab center as early as tomorrow.  Much of this depends on bed capacity and policy; some facilities requre 2 negative PCR tests, but a few will accept one.  We are discusssing  logisitics with the facilities and her hospital social worker.

We spoke with her twice today. She is sitting up in a chair, and sounds strong and alert.. She informed us that  the PT staff are nice but not that well-informed,  suggesting she had to teach them which exercises she should be doing.

God help them.

Good evening,

Aunt Tessie continues to progress through her recovery.  At rest, she is breathing room air, relying on cannula for Oxygen only when she is ambulatory during PT

Once again, she sends her love to you all.

Good evening,

I am sorry about not providing an update yesterday. Aunt Tessie continues to show signs of recovery, her BP remains stable, and she is down to 1 liter of O2.

I spoke with her a little while ago. She was very upbeat and aware, and sends her love to you all.  I hope to be able to provide a further update tomorrow.

Once again, thanks to you all. Your love and support mean everything to us.

Good afternoon,

This morning's  facetime discussion with Aunt Tessie went something like this:

Me: "Hi Mom!"

Aunt Tessie:" Who is paying my bills?!"

Me:" um... we are"

Aunt Tessie:  " Who is watching my house?!"

Tere: " umm... We go there every morning"

She looks really good today.  They are down 2 liters of O2, and her vitals are steady.
