Journal entry by Reeba Sattler —
Dad was officially taken off life support yesterday and has since been breathing on his own. We still have a long road of recovery ahead of us but so far things look much better. There is still a lot of concerns regarding cognitive function and the long-term effects of the several strokes he has had. Occupational therapy and physical therapy have been working with him for the last two days and conducted a number of tests. So far we are not sure the extent of the damage but we remain hopeful.
We have all been able to talk to dad and while he's definitely not happy to be in the hospital he is clearly glad to be awake! He has some adjusting to do which will take some time.
Dad was officially moved out of the ICU this afternoon and is now back to the regular hospital wing. There is still no indication of when he will be able to leave the hospital but we are just taking it day by day.
Thank you again to for all the love, support and prayers. We are all so appreciative.
We will update as things unfold over the next few days.
