Terry’s Story

Site created on June 2, 2021

Welcome to Terry Chauncey's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  We are all fans of Terry and know how loving and caring of a friend she is to all of us. I am asking that we gather together in prayers and support for her while she is going through this journey.  Terry doesn't often ask for help; however,  I think that her friends are here for her through sickness and health. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  We know this will be a long journey as she navigates her medical updates and path forward. Every text, call, meal, and prayer will be help Terry and Glen.

The family requested I post Terry's obituary.

Teresa (Terry) Triplett Chauncey

“To love another person is to see the face of God.”  When Teresa (Terry) Triplett and Glen Chauncey met 23 years ago, they recognized the amazing beauty of eternal love in one another’s faces and hearts. They’ve experienced a magical love that has only continued to expand and grow; and when they renewed their wedding vows just last week during Terry’s hospitalization, it was with even more passion and commitment, tenderness, friendship and love than when they were married 20 years ago on May 5th, 2001.  They had plans, they had hope, and they most certainly had love.

Love was something that Terry abundantly gave, generously shared, and enthusiastically embraced.  Her love for Glen was a constant in her life, but so was her love for their beloved fur-babies Moe & Curly, her family, her family of friends at home and in the workplace, her job, her life, and her God.

On Saturday, July 10th, Terry suddenly left this life to be with her Savior, leaving behind all those who can’t fathom what life will be like without her.  Even her surgeon at Johns Hopkins took time away from his family vacation to share with Glen that he found Terry to be a woman of extraordinary grace, courage, kindness, and dogged determination in the face of physical adversity.  That gentle grace, compassion and humor permeated every facet of Terry’s interactions with everyone she encountered.

Terry was born in Radford, VA to Oren Elmer and Xymena Bowman Triplett on October 9, 1961 and has lived in Irmo, S.C. since 1998, where she’d moved from High Point, N.C. She will always be missed and loved by her sister Melanie Beed (Larry) and brothers Joe Triplett (Tracy) and Lew Triplett (Stephanie), and her special nieces and nephews, Amber, Jhenna, Terin (Melanie), Andrew, Tucker, Tristan (Joe), Wesley and Lauren (Lew).  She is also loved and survived by Glen’s siblings:  Robert (Michelle) Chauncey, Ken (Dee) Chauncey, Bobbie (Joe) Chaplinski and Lynn Christ, as well as their children and grandchildren, David/Lauren Chauncey with daughter Grace, Matthew Chauncey, Elisabeth Chauncey (Rob); Tommy/Dianne Casolaro with children Lilly, Caleb, Erin and Isabella and Michele/Matt Jones with sons, Finn and Cam (Bobbie); Cheri/Chip Hall with sons Josiah and Ezra, Lauren/John Miller with children Ellie and Paxson, and Ryann Christ (Lynn).

The list of special people in Terry’s life is boundless, making it impossible to enumerate everyone who was especially dear to her but her friendship with Jennie Davis spans several decades, distance, and mutual dedication.  In truth, to know Terry was to be her friend – and to be her friend was to laugh with her. Glen would like to thank all of her dear, devoted friends who’ve given them strength and laughter during these most difficult days. Terry’s spirit was a part of each one of you -- and always will be.

During the seven years that Terry worked for Duck Creek Technologies, where she was honored by receiving the FY17 Special Impact Award Winner of the Year, she found wonderful friendships, challenging opportunities, and she found her niche as a global event director -- a job she loved and people with whom she loved to work.

It makes sense that Terry would be zealously committed to being an organ donor upon her death since she had, in fact, donated one of her kidneys to her father, Oren, when his life hung in the balance.  Her sister and brothers have also been organ recipients, increasing her desire all the more.

Terry loved her garden, her books, traveling, decorating and relaxing at home, but her favorite place to be was at the beach where she and Glen often basked in the sun and surf on their extended 20-year honeymoon.

The family invites you to a celebration of Terry’s life, which will be held at the Dunbar Funeral Home at 7600 Woodrow Street in Irmo, SC on Thursday, July 15th, at 10am, followed by a memorial service at noon in their Dutch Fork Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to your favorite charity in Terry’s memory, or to the American Brain Tumor Association, 800-886-ABTA (2282).
