So, we have re-evaluated and dad has decided he wants to get stronger. So, we are starting the paperwork for a transfer back to the nursing home for rehabilitation.   If he wants to go into hospice care, he has decided to do it from his nursing home room.  He is already getting stronger.  Scared the crap out of us at 5am when he tried to get out of bed on his own. But all things considered, we think this is the right plan since his numbers are holding steady and look good. 
We weren't getting clear answers from doctors about why they chose hospice. He looked like he usually does after he had issues from any hospital visit.  But things were deceiving and was hard to make choices.   Dad is happy and he can still choose hospice at his nursing home when that day comes.   He has a long road of rehabilitation ahead,  but we feel confident this is the right path. 
The nursing home got the call about the transfer and they made sure they could get him home today.  Should be back at the health center around 3:30!
