Journal entry by Harry Phillips

Teresina Liuzzi Philips, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Feb 11, 2021, at the age of 66.

She was born in 1954 in Columbus, Ohio, the oldest of three sisters. Her family moved a number of times while she was growing up, but eventually settled in Northern Virginia. She studied Spanish in high school and college, and became active in church work in the mid 1970s. This led to a position as a bookkeeper for a church affiliated business, and became a career in accounting and bookkeeping. She worked for various companies including retail, real estate, and publishing. Teresina developed expertise in state sales taxes and working with state tax auditors.

In 1982 she married Harry R. Phillips and they had four children. They have lived in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC since 1992. Teresina was always interested in education and devoted much of her time and energy to supporting children through scouts, teaching Sunday School, and developing Sunday School curriculum for many years. She is still remembered by her former students and their families for her positive impact on their lives. Some of her other interests included an appreciation of classic Hollywood films, word and number puzzles, crocheting, and researching family ancestry. Teresina and Harry enjoyed taking trips together to visit cultural and historic sites in various parts of the U.S.

She was constantly reading throughout her life and in recent years, her Kindle was always nearby, usually with a mystery novel open. Some of her favorite books and authors included Agatha Christie, Rex Stout, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.

Teresina is lovingly remembered for her generosity of spirit, infinite patience, indomitable perseverance, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her husband, Harry, four children, Bethany (husband Abiel), Toby, Donny (wife Natascha), Emily (fiancé Myles), and one grandson, James, as well as her mother, Betty Ann, and two sisters, Lisa (husband Mark), and Karen (husband Chuck).

A service will be held on Monday, February Fifteenth, at 11am at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel and Crematory.  In order to comply with social distancing needs, we are inviting those wishing to attend to do so virtually - please fill out the contact form below if you would like to attend.
