Journal entry by Heather West

I just got home from spending the morning with Teresa and our mom at her first Taxol treatment, and I can truly say there is nothing that fills my cup like my family❤️❤️. Craig posted a Facebook update with more info that I have copy and pasted below. Thank you for all the love and prayers!

Teresa Update:
On Wednesday, Teresa had her consultation with the reconstruction surgeon, for after the double mastectomy.  We both really liked him.  He said Teresa's low BMI creates some challenges for reconstruction, but it will all get worked out.  The process will be a long one, and involve at least two surgeries.

Today, Teresa starts Phase II of her chemotherapy treatments.  She is done with the Red Devil and now starts 12 weekly doses of taxol.  Taxol is supposed to be a little bit easier to handle, but still has quite a few side effects.  Today's session is a really long one as they have to very slowly administer the taxol to see how she reacts to it, as some people have a very strong negative reaction to taxol.  Her mom and sister are keeping her company today and she is excited to get started on Phase II.  There is an MRI scheduled for the middle of July where we will get to find out how much of an impact chemo has had on the tumors.

Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers, and support for Teresa and our family.
