For the past month and a half Ten has been having bad headaches when any pressure is applied i.e laughing, coughing, sneezing, she gets bad headaches, to the point where they would immobilize her. The past couple of weeks things have gotten worse, vomiting, dizziness, sweating, loss of balance. After numerous E.R. visits and appointments she was treated with migraines. Today she went in, they finally gave her a CAT scan and found a mass on the back left side of her brain. Soon after they flew her to Rochester. An MRI showed a sizable tumor on the left side, and unknown amount on the right side. They are concerned with the pressure being put on the cerebellum. It looks like she will be having surgery tomorrow. No food or fluids after midnight. She is able to communicate you can contact her through her phone, please no phone calls. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. I will be updating every chance I can.

Ten got a little bit of sleep last night. Treating her with Tylenol and codeine for the hedaches. She’s been nauseous and sweaty all night. The first round of nausea they treated her with Zofran. After the EKG results they discontinued the zofran, and gave her an essential oil soothing stick to help with the nausea A little skeptical, but it seemed to work (grandma Diane would be proud she said). She’s been sleeping with a cool washcloth on her face, and ice pack to help with the sweating and heat. They said the team of doctors will do rounds anywhere from 8am-10am, we will know more after that.

Tenleys neuro exam this morning went good, she had a little trouble touching her righ hand to her nose. However that’s also the arm with her IV. Her condition isn’t getting worse. The doctors said if it weren’t for her headaches and her going in multiple times they wouldn’t know anything’s wrong. Her physical exam and vitals show she’s healthy.

With the CT scan we found out no other tumors or masses on her spine or any other organs. They are waiting for surgery til tomorrow morning. They are for sure operating on the biggest tumor, not sure on the rest. She is in a lot of pain right now, they can’t do much because she has to be alert for the neuro exams. Hoping the pain goes away soon... The full CT and MRI report are not yet done. We havent met with any of the surgical team to see what procedure, how it’s going to be done, or even when it is. I’ll let you know when I do.

HUGE UPDATE!!! SURGERY TOMORROW MORNING AT 7AM!! We just got done talking with the neurosurgeon. They moved the surgery til tomorrow so they can have their "A" team, and they have the time to make a plan. They don't know if it is an infection, lesion, or tumor. They are only going to take out the largest mass on the left side of the brain. Going into both sides would lead to to many complications in recovery. They may not be able to take out the whole thing, but are going to take out as much as possible without hurting her or any major blood vessels/part of the brain. They will be using their best tools, and team including the senior most pediatrics neurosurgeon. As well as a navigation system, and neurotransmitters. Her Surgery Prep will start at 7AM tomorrow, it will take about an hour for her to fall asleep, anywhere from 4-10 hours of surgery depending on the consistency of the tumor, and then an hour to wake up. They will test the tissue of the mass while they are operating, preliminary test will be ran within the hours, more permanent information will come in a couple days, and genetic testing few days after that. They will send me text updates throughout. After surgery she will be transferred to the ICU for a day if there is no complications. After ICU onto the regular floor for a couple days. And then depending on development she would go home or to a rehab center. It will be a long day for everyone. For now she is in a lot of pain, trying to rest.

Tens surgery went great! Despite having to get up at 4:30am today, we are home and she is resting! Still pretty tired from the anesthesia. But the port is out, the last “thing” from cancer is gone! Yay!

Crazy she got it in May 28, 2019 and taken out today. One year and one day and she’s done with it! Now we just have to wait 10 days for healing and we are FREE for the summer.

I guess I won’t have to update about anything else until scans in 3 months! And I have to say, that is an AMAZING feeling.
