Only last week did I learn that I have pancreatic cancer, and I am still processing that information.  At this point, I neither know the protocol of treatments that the roundtable of doctors have in mind at the University of Virginia Medical Center nor the prognosis.  Last week a surgeon at UVA put a stent into my liver because the tumor was blocking its normal function.  Ignorance of my situation, at this point, does not interfere with my goal of returning to teaching in the fall.  I love my job, my colleagues, and my students.

I am still on and off the campus and am not homebound. I really do not  want visitors beyond my family and close friends from out of town.  Visitations evoke powerful emotions which are difficult for me.  We do not need gifts of meals at this time; I can still cook and do work around the house.  Thank you for your understanding. Please pray Psalm 130 for me.
