My dad, the greatest PaPa, and one of the best men I know, has been diagnosed with advanced colon cancer. He will under go surgery tomorrow and then will begin his fight for his life. The doctors have said he is looking at 6 - 8 rounds of chemotherapy and if the cancer responds to that he will have another surgery in Oklahoma City for more invasive chemotherapy and radiation. We are believing that the cancer will respond to these first rounds of chemotherapy.

My dad has been a trucker driver since he graduated high school and dream he had since he was a young boy. In 1987 when I was 7 years old he gave his heart to Christ and accepted Jesus as his savior. Since that time he has passionately and selfless served the church, his community, and so many others showing them the God's love the very best he could.

For 15 years he drove the church bus to pickup children in the community to bring them to church. He made a point to make each one feel special and loved. For many years he served as a leader in the Royal Rangers program while also teaching Sunday school and for 25 years he poured his heart into his church through serving tirelessly as a deacon at our Assembly of God church in our small town.

Journal entry by Delvin Simmons

Dad has been doing great since surgery. He has not been in any pain and has not had to take any pain medicine. He should get to start eating food again soon which will help him build strength for chemo. His first round of chemo starts next week. He has been so encouraged and touched by the overwhelming support he has seen. Many more people reached out today to show how much they think of and love Mom and Dad. Thank each of you for your generosity towards my parents. I wanted to share with a post on Facebook posted by my sister Jamie. This was just a few days before Dad’s surgery when my brother Justin took Dad to drive his semi one more time before surgery. The song is his favorite song, one that he sang countless of times in our little church to share his testimony and bless so many.❤️
