Journal entry by Wendie Roberts

I know this page was to give updates on mom and how she is doing. She passed away on 9/23/18 and I haven't written since the day before the funeral. It has been hard losing mom, harder than words can ever express. She was not only my mom, she was my best friend. Since her death, there has been an outpouring of support from family, friends, her wonderful neighbors on Bentcreek Drive, and many others who didn't even know her who have checked in on me and my brother, Brent. We are grateful for all of you and your support. On the flip side, we have seen the ugliness that can come once mom died and her affairs had to be tended to. A loss like this really can bring out the best in people as well as the worst. It is a shame. A real shame. And it is sad. I am finally learning to feel pity for those who have no concern except for money and stuff. They live a sad life when that is all they care about. So I will not waste my time on them and instead focus on those who are there for the right reasons. Those who continue to offer sympathy, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen and sincere offers of help to get me and my brother through this tragic loss. I hope that this tragedy will help me, once I get through my grief, to help others dealing with the loss of a loved one, whether due to illness like cancer or any other loss. That is how I see making something beautiful out of this tragic loss and how to best honor my mom. I do hope that those who are focusing on money and stuff will see the light and show that they really care. I really just want for bygones to be bygones and to live life to the fullest. That is what mom would want. Not hatred and greed. Life is not about stuff. It is about people for people cannot be replaced but stuff can. Blessings to you and yours! Wendie
