Newest Update

Journal entry by Danielle Tso

Hello! 😃 I appreciate everyone’s patience with an update on Taylor. 😇 As Taylor noted yesterday,  it has been 106 days since her fall.  Taylor has been back in Denver for three weeks and figuring out this transition to being back in her DPT program, asking for a lot of help and navigating with crutches and a scooter has been overwhelming for her.  Let’s start with the good news- Taylor saw her ankle surgeon last Monday and he cleared her to start weight being on her right ankle. 🙏🏼  Taylors doctor in San Diego wanted her actual surgeon in Denver to make this call.  As of today taylor is now 50% weight bearing in her boot and goes down to one crutch next week.  This wonderful news has given Taylor a stronger grasp on when some normalcy will return to her life.  ( walking, driving, and being self sufficient again) Taylor is off all medication except for sleep meds which she is now working at getting off as well.  Yes all very amazing news! 😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🎉🎊
In Taylors words “ this has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life .”  The transition back to Denver has been extremely challenging for her.  We are beyond grateful to her friends, classmates, faculty for all they have done to support Taylor.  They have made this next step possible for her and without the rides , organized meals, professors flexibility with Taylors limitations, and all the other daily support there would be no way Taylor could have stayed in her program.
Attached is a picture of Taylor from this weekend.  Taylor calls it crutch hiking, but with friends help she finds a way up to the mountains in her happy place. 🌲🌲  I have also attached the video of Taylor walking last Monday on both legs. 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️The first time since her fall April 5th.  🥳
Roger and I have a planned trip to Denver at the end of August to celebrate Taylors 25th Birthday.🎂 I will post one more update once Taylor is completely walking on her own without a boot.  We are still waiting to see if she will need one more surgery to fuse her right ankle but we won’t know that for as long as a full year.  Really after this type of accident that will be a minor price to pay.
Thank you again for all of the prayers, love and support.  We can’t wait to thank some of Taylors angels in person when we are back in Denver. 👍🏻👍🏻
