Journal
Hello everyone! Yesterday we met with my doctor to review my PET scan and bone marrow biopsy results. Everything looked great and we couldn't be more thankful and happy to hear the positive news! My doctor was very pleased with my results and happy with my progress. He instructed me to go celebrate and live my life, which was amazing to hear and the closure I truly needed.
I'll return to MD Anderson in 3 months for a follow up scan and will be sure to update you all when that time comes. My appointment is currently scheduled for April 22nd! If everything comes back normal, I'll have another scan every 6 months for the first year and then will go to yearly scans from there. After 5 years of positive results, I'll be considered a survivor and no longer require check ups.
I can't thank you enough for all of your thoughts and prayers throughout this process. It hasn't been an easy journey and it still doesn't feel real sometimes, but I can truly say it has made me a better person and I've learned more about myself than I could've ever imagined. Prior to this I was just going through the motions in life - always checking off whatever box was next in line. Now I'm going to start living it, soaking in the moment, and be more thankful for each and every day ahead. I also think it goes without saying that I've grown exponentially in my faith and give all the glory and praise to God - this was only achievable through Him. Thank you again for all the support and please keep praying for continued healing and that the cancer never returns!!!
