Journal entry by Tawana Davis

Greetings beloveds,

I hope everyone is well and staying safe.  We are good on this end. We are wearing masks, physical distancing, washing our hands regularly, and staying home as much as possible.  Speaking of home, we are now in Maryland! Yes, the family has relocated and will be relocating to Maryland to be closer to family, experience new opportunities, and be on the east coast.  Denver has been good to us and now it's time to make things happen closer to home.

I lived in Denver for nine years.  I worked at Shorter Community AME Church, starter Soul 2 Soul Sisters (soul2soulsisters.org) with my beloved bestie Rev. Dr. Dawn Riley Duval, experienced beautiful relationships and received divine care during my breast cancer diagnosis November 2016. It was hard to leave Denver and when G-d says move, it is time to move.  With my limited capacity, I could not stay in Denver without my primary caregivers, my beautiful children.  When we all felt the pull to go, I had to step out on faith, making another major move on my journey.

Many of my moves in recent years have been G-d moves.  From NY to Atl to Denver, I stepped out on faith and G-d continued to work miracles in my world during each move.  So why would I think this move would be any different? It's not and here I am - in the DMV!

Picking up my entire life including my changing my medical team and moving in the midst of a pandemic seems crazy!!! Who does that? Me and G-d ~ LOL! I landed in MD on June 18th and never looked back.  I moved into my new place the same day, had my doctors lined up at Johns Hopkins, and can't wait to connect with the multitude of friends I have in the DMV.  And of course, I can't wait to be able to take the 3-hour drive to NY on a regular! LOL.

At times, living alone can be quite challenging.  I am so used to the familial energy, voices, aromas, and conversations. Now, these things look different.  When I get down or discouraged, someone will call or text or message me with an encouraging word or loving energy, and then all is well with the world.

All is well when I hold on to the awesome community, physical distancing, drive-by send off and the loving energy, kind words, physical, and financial gifts of love I received during my farewell celebration.  I loved community and community loved me back! For this I am grateful!

The love and prayers have sustained me during these difficult times.  From the pandemic to racism to surviving breast cancer, I am here because of G-d's grace and community! I am here thriving and remaining hopeful even in the midst of these trying times.  By the grace of G-d, I am officially a Ph.D. candidate and am scheduled to defend by July 2021.  Look at G-d!

Look at G-d moving through the lives of my children and affording them an opportunity to teach in DC, buy a home, be closer to family and friends. Look at G-d continuing to cover and keep us. Look at G-d's love that abounds even in the midst of protests, pandemic, policy changes, voice, activism, and the movement for Black lives.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as I do the same for you.

Much love,
Tawana
