Newest Update

Journal entry by Angela Young

Yesterday was Tanners first MRI post radiation.  I’m not sure there will ever be a time when one of these scans doesn't cause a knot of apprehension in my stomach.  We went back in today to review the results with Dr. Skrpek and were relieved at the results.  There is no sign of residual tumor remaining on the left thalamus.  He is cancer free.   He does still have a spot of abnormality  where once there was a tumor but this is to be expected and will most likely never go away.  The continuing feeling of numbness and burning on his right side is also something that may never heal completely.  They are setting him up with a strick regiment of PT and OT with the hopes that it will help lessen the neuropathy and ease a little bit of the discomfort.  He had a few elevated labs and has been referred to an endocrinologist as well as an optometrist to see if there is any hope of correcting his vision which is still a little wonky.  Overall, any news that didn’t involve the tumor regrowing was great news! He’ll be getting MRI’s every 3 months for the time being just to keep an eye on things and we’ll be sure to update everyone if anything changes. Thank you for all of your prayers.  They really did work miracles❤️
