Tammy’s Story

Site created on August 25, 2020

If you know Tammy Parrish, you love Tammy Parrish. She is a strong, kind-hearted, selfless, hardworking and fun-loving gift to us all. As many of her loved ones know, her soulmate, best friend, and husband Robby passed away in May of 2018 after a long fight against cancer. Needless to say, the past two years have been incredibly difficult and heartbreaking for all of us missing Robby. Especially so for Tammy as she learns how to navigate life without her other half.

Unexpectedly, Tammy was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer with metastases in the liver and lymph nodes in early June of this year (2020). Needless to say, this is a scary prognosis - but we remain hopeful and believe we are on the right path. We have been working endlessly since her diagnosis to pull together the best team of professionals: naturopathic physician, integrative doctor and traditional oncologist.

Given the experience we had with Robby's cancer, we have decided as a family that solely treating cancer with traditional methods is not enough, and that it is best for Tammy to treat this both naturally and with conventional treatments. This means she is working with a naturopathic physician for diet, supplementation, and alternative treatments such as oxygen therapy and lymphatic treatments. She is seeing an integrative doctor for repurposed medications and treatments such as intravenous Vitamin C and UBI in order to get her body ready for chemotherapy and to support her immune system through treatment. Additionally, she will start chemotherapy on August 4th, 2020. After many hours of research, words of advice, conversations with doctors, and thoughts and prayers, this is the very best plan that we have for attacking the cancer from every direction. However, this is expensive.

Tammy works as a life coach and school counselor. She has been unable to see some of her normal clients due to a busy schedule with doctors appointments and simply trying to manage this new journey physically, emotionally and mentally. Her position in the schools is by contract, so she goes unpaid during the summer months until the school year starts up again. However, she will be unable to start working again in the Fall due to current circumstances, which will only get harder as she begins chemotherapy. Since Robby passed away, Tammy has worked hard to support herself (and her children where needed) financially. With treating her cancer as nearly a full-time job and not being able to go back to work in the Fall, this has raised the question about figuring out finances.

All of this to say, we know how expensive treating cancer is and that medical expenses stack up quickly. Tammy is fighting for her life today and every day. Worrying about finances is one of the last things that should keep her (or anyone) from getting the treatment and care that she needs. Reaching out for help is something that we have learned to be so valuable during these times. As a friend, family member, or acquaintance, it can be hard to know how to help Tammy as she goes through this fight, so we wanted to reach out with this request that we appreciate you simply reading  through or contributing financially to.

We feel that by opening a GoFundMe for Tammy, we can all come together and help her in a way that will truly, truly, truly go far. With finances as a concern for treatment, we believe relieving her of even a little bit of that stress would allow her more space to breathe and push forward more confidently in her fight against cancer. While cancer is a physical battle, it is also a mental one - and we want to show up in any way we can to be by her side and make the journey a little lighter for someone we love so much.

If you would like to purchase any of her supplements, treatments/therapies/infusions, or supplies directly, please reach out and we can get that together for you.

Prayers, thoughts, anything and everything are so appreciated by all of us - so please understand that you are helping with these things alone.

With Love and Gratitude,

Lukas, Eliza, Jesse and Taylor

Newest Update

Journal entry by Taylor Charles

We wanted to give you an update on Tammy’s latest scan. The scan results were very encouraging, showing no new growth and tumors are shrinking. Her CEA( tumor markers) went from 3 to .7. Needless to say we are all thankful and confident in continuing on the treatment plan that Tammy’s team has put in place, both conventional and natural therapies.

We continue to thank you for all of your support for Tammy and our family. Whether that be through a text, a phone call, cards, meals, monetary support to help with treatments and supplements and all of the prayers and positive thoughts that mean so much to us. We are beyond grateful for all of your love and support.

Because of your support, Tammy will be able to receive another SOT(Short Oligodeoxynucleotide Technique) Treatment in Indiana this month.  SOT is a technique in which circulating tumor cells are reverse engineered using a messenger RNA to disrupt the DNA of the cancer cell in order to destroy them. We will keep you updated on the results of the SOT Therapy as we learn more.

Chemo #6 will be this Tuesday. Prayers that side effects would be minimal and that there would be no problem accessing Tammy’s port for chemo. This has been an issue for her since beginning chemo.

So we continue to take one day at a time and we all see each day as a precious gift.

With love
The Parrish Family
