Journal entry by Taylin Bos

Ooof this will be a hard one to type out. We’re approaching a year of one of the darkest times our family has ever experienced. I would be lying if I said I don’t get choked up with a golfball sized lump in my throat every time my mom & covid are in the same sentence. I can’t even go down M6, passing Metro Hospital, without my thoughts running rampant and every emotion I felt during that time trickling back, overwhelming my body. It was terrible, awful, gut wrenching, and truly any bad word you can think of wrapped in one. The flashbacks hit HARD, and seeing the posts we made a year ago come to the surface in our Facebook memories, is like feeling the pain all over again. It was all such unknown territory.

BUT….

…We serve a God who doesn’t play with scientific odds. He is far greater. And so much GOOD came out of this bad season. Thousands of people came together to pray & serve. There were 14,000 people just through this platform ALONE who followed my moms journey. It was unbelievably incredible to watch. So many prayers went up flooding the gates of heaven to heal my mom. Hundreds of people went above & beyond to help our family by cleaning my parents house, keeping up on landscaping & lawn care, gifting money & gift cards, making homemade meals & desserts, sending handwritten letters & cards, etc., none of it went unnoticed, & we want to say THANK YOU again for your hands in it all. Although sometimes I focus on the bad, I try to remind myself of the GOOD that came out of it. By the BEAUTIFUL GRACE OF GOD, my miracle mother was able to come home after 10 long, dreadful weeks in the hospital & she is doing SO well. Her kidney numbers are not exactly where we want them to be, but still improving! Other than that, there are no concerns for her health & you would never imagine where she was a year ago if you didn’t know her.

A few people have asked, “how is Tami doing coming up on one year?” She would answer that, although it comes with an anxious feeling, she is more concerned for her family around her who had to experience it on the other end. If this doesn’t speak VOLUMES for just the kind of woman my mom is, then you don’t know her. She is ALWAYS thinking of others before herself. Mom, I know God is so proud of you, and He has proven that your work here is not done yet. You have thousands of more hearts to touch like you’ve already done to so many who followed along on your journey. I love you so much!

-Your daughter, Tay<3

We would LOVE for you to share how this story may have moved you or how my mom has touched your life in any way. We are going to read through them this weekend as we are up at my grandparents cottage. We want to reflect on the good as this one year mark approaches.
