Newest Update

Journal entry by Tallia Rose

Hello friends!
We are way overdue for an update.
Talia came home last week Friday so she's been home now 9 days. She still struggles greatly with her stamina and can only be upright for, at the most, 2 hours at a time. She has had some outings, she wanted to go to church both last Sunday and this past Sunday. She has gone to salsa Grille her favorite Mexican place!
And she has been cleared to drive but Mom of course has told her she needs to text before she leaves in text when she arrives:-)
Still no real good progress on getting her bladder nerve sensations back, we have an appointment with urologist sometime in the next few weeks to track down the source of that lack of sensation whether it is muscular or nerve or both.
She is battling another bladder infection, and as a way to lighten up her last doctor visit she said casually "well I can't die from that!" To which the physician's assistant replied "actually yes you could." She is at risk of an infection in her bladder traveling up to her kidneys and then going into her bloodstream, known as sepsis.
We are so very aware that things could be much worse than they are, it is hard to talk about what are really minor difficulties in the big scheme of life, and yet..... I never thought I'd have to talk to my daughter about laxatives every day, and give her shots of a blood thinner ( which make her cry) so that she doesn't have a DVT or PE- since she has a spinal cord injury she is at risk of both for a while. I never thought I'd be arguing with with my insurance over getting a shower chair....those case managers are worth their weight in gold, i wish i had thought of the chair before we left the hospital...... All the little things of daily life do seem to weigh down a little bit now.
We would love for you to pray that she regains all function in her bladder and colon. And that she can feel stronger and fight off this bladder infection and avoid any more. She hopes to go back to school in January- at PFW.... We need wisdom to proceed and her classes to line up well for her physical limitations.
Thanks for all the well wishes and kind comments! We all read them and Tallia is always touched that so many people are thinking of her!
