Sylvia’s Story

Site created on January 21, 2019

Dear Family and Friends.
As many of you know , I am scheduled for a hysterectomy on Jan 30 at U of Penn because I have a big fat tumor on my left ovary..  While it is suspicious for cancer, the surgeon will not know for sure until he gets the pathology report during surgery.   I am feeling surprisingly ok now - just a little nervous about the recovery process..   I will be in the hospital about four days and then spend a few days at a friend's house.. Hope to return home to my cats and plants on Feb 8 when another friend will stay with me for 4 days.  We will keep you updated on this Caring Bridge web site which will relieve me of multiple calls and emails.. After Feb 11, I may need some folks to drop in and help me with stuff I can't do yet.  But one word of caution..  DO NOT MAKE ME LAUGH    Everyone I know who has had similar surgery said it takes several months to be able to laugh pain free.  Thanks to all of you who have already showered me with your love and concern and support.   Signing off for now but will try to keep you up to date..  Peace and love Sylvia
PS  Thank you so much LouAnn for setting up and managing the Caring Bridge

Journal entry by sylvia metzler

Dear Family and Friends.
Last Saturday I went to Horsham /Willow Grove Naval Air Base to protest the drone command center there .  On Sunday I spent about four hours in my garden - cleaning up and planting spring seeds...  It looks like I am back in the swing of my life.  I seem to be fully recovered from my surgery of Jan 30 and from my pulmonary embolism(s) of March 24.  OK  2019  Enough already.  And of course the reason I am doing so well is all the care and concern I received from so many dear friends and family.  I am so grateful and thank you all from the bottom of my embolism free heart.  So I think it is time to close out Caring Bridge. I will miss LouAnn's clever, witty and well written entries. So many people have commented on her writing skills that I think she has a new profession if she is interested. Hoping we all stay as strong and healthy as possible and use our energy to turn this country around in 2020 - in the voting booth and in the streets!  peace ,love and justice   Sylvia
