Allie’s Story

Site created on October 21, 2020

Since August 2020, Sweet Allie, as she is known to family and friends, has been experiencing escalating symptoms of what we now know is a large tumor in her chest and throat. The tumor is putting pressure on her thyroid and trachea, causing problems with inflammation and trouble breathing. Preliminary diagnosis is a form of lymphoma.

Allie was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday following her appointments with oncologists and is awaiting procedures (biopsies, scans, and possible treatments) on Thursday.

At the moment, Allie and the Dyars don't need meals but please do keep us in your prayers. We will continue to keep you updated as we know more.

TO KEEP ALLIE SAFE - Even though we want to hug you all, because the risks and consequences of infections of all types are so severe, we are maintaining a strict social distance of six feet with everyone outside the immediate Dyar family.

Also, if anyone’s interested in helping out with Chip, Allie’s dog, in the interim - this is a specific need we have now.

Journal entry by Allie Dyar

The last few days have been a mixture of deep sadness, renewed hope, and a lot of reflecting on the last few years while hoping and dreaming for many more to come. I shared this last night on my Instagram but wanted to share it with those of you who follow my updates here.

As my friend Sally said, “Speaking about the goodness of God in the midst of suffering is supernatural.” This is not from me, but the Holy Spirit who lives in me.

Thankful for this life and each day the Lord keeps me here, but finding great joy in longing for heaven.
