This is a letter written by my sister, Angel (Reynolds) Swalve:

"This begins the journey, the one I never expected. But here we are, and here it goes.

It began with a diagnosis, the one no one truly expects to ever have to hear. After a mammogram, ultrasound and a biopsy, the doctors diagnosed Stage 1A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Breast Cancer. So, there we go, I said the words out loud...wow.

I am a single mom, only 46, with 3 kids (and one kitten) living at home that depend on me for almost everything. I have begun building a support tribe, first and foremost I have God, and He has done so much for me already and is continuing to daily show me His grace, love and mercy. Along with God, my family, friends and coworkers are the greatest support tribe and  I can't thank them enough.

I will be on Individual Medical Leave from work and surgery is on Sept. 25, 2018, in Austin, with a 3 day hospital stay and 3-4 weeks off before I can return to work.

I am blessed to have medical insurance. but yes, there are a lot of out of pocket expenses over the past few weeks and much more to come. So there it is, and here we go!”

Many of you have asked how you can help, what do we need, what can they do. Prayer...for the Doctors, the Surgeons, the Nurses and of course for Angel and for our family. And if you are able, any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Go to the Ways to Help link to connect to our Social Fund page.

Journal entry by Pam Pankey

Angel won another round today. She had the full hysterectomy done and everything went as well as planned. She woke up within minutes of getting into recovery room. They are keeping her overnight just to monitor her and help with the pain control. She will go home tomorrow. She will out of work until Jan 24.

She finished all 25 radiation sessions last Friday with only a minor burn. Needed some burn cream for it, but she said it was nowhere as bad as some of the ones she had seen online.  And she is not in pain.

Praise God for a complication free journey and now we're requesting prayers for another speedy recovery as well as peace and comfort as she walks the new walk and finds her new normal.

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes. She enjoys reading the messages here.

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas and that 2019 will bring you more of all the blessings of God.
