Journal entry by Suzie Haslinger —
In order to keep ppl up to date, because chemo has proven to cause dangerous complications. The first infusion landed me in the hospital for a week thru the ER. I had a condition called Febrile Nuetropenia; meaning my immune cells were so decimated my body lost its stasis.
They ended up having to give me a couple shots of Neulasta to spark my bone marrow to create white blood cells. Thank God it worked, and I got home from the hospital just in time to have my second chemo infusion.
With this infusion, they gave me a Neulasta shot, yay! These shots cost - sit down - $6,000+ each. Can you even believe this? However, I am grateful for it. It hurts a great deal but I’ve now gotten pain medication to counteract that bone pain.
I take me tempurature all day and night to catch another immune cell collapse. That’s my current holding pattern.
Another chemo infusion due in a couple weeks. I’ll keep this updated.
Thanks for good wishes and energy!!!
