Suzanne’s Story

Site created on August 23, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Suzanne was diagnosed with ALS in the spring of 2016.    Thinking that her dentist had nicked her throat or tongue, she went back to the dentist who sent her to a doctor. Being in Houston and with the Medical Center near hers and Kenny’s house, her diagnosis was quick, but devastating...she had ALS.

Suzanne was quickly referred to the country’s premier ALS treatment and treatment center, The Methodist Hospital’s ASL Clinic, where she has received information about her unrelenting and progressive disease.

Kenny began his continuous care of Suzanne.  They have been in and out of the hospital for various reasons as her disease progressed. Last Friday, August 16 she was admitted to UTMB in Galveston once again. But this time it appears to be the end of her journey.

Suzanne is now under hospice care and comes in and out of consciousness— occasionally reacting to her visitors, but mostly sleeping.  Her hospice nurses are keeping her comfortable and pain free.

We will keep everyone aware apprised of Suzanne’s condition as it progresses.   But for now, when the end comes, her body will be cremated and a celebration of her eventful life will be held , at a later date.   We will post the details here as they are available.
