Suzanne’s Story

Site created on January 11, 2020

Welcome to the Caring Bridge page for Suzanne Cheek. We invite you to walk with us on this journey via checking in here and offering your prayers and support. Jim and Suzanne have some very hard work ahead of them and having your thoughts and prayers shared on this page will be a wonderful way you can support them and the family.

Suzanne received a diagnosis of Glioblastoma after being admitted to St. Thomas West over the weekend of January 4th. Her Glioblastoma is an extremely serious, inoperable brain tumor. The average life span of people diagnosed with a Glioblastoma is 18 months. We all know Suzanne is not an average person and with the help of God, and the support of all of us who love her we are praying for much more time. Her treatments will begin in 3-4 weeks. She will go to Saint Thomas for 30 treatments Monday through Friday for 6 weeks.

Our family has been touched by the many, many people who have reached out to us. Suzanne has been blessed beyond measure with so many family members and loving friends who are like family. We promise to share specific ways friends can offer help but for now please keep praying for Suzanne and Jim.  Please honor our no visitor request.

Cards are more than appreciated. You can send them to:

Thanking all for your love and support and most of all your prayers!  Please continue prayer warriors for our family.  You all have been so good to the Cheeks.

We are heavy hearted to say that our sweet Suzanne suddenly developed an infection that would not be overcome.   Saturday March 14th she passed peacefully with her sweet family by her side.

If you knew Suzanne ; you were blessed.  We were most blessed to have her as family. Suzanne was the bond that brought the family together for birthday dinners and holiday gatherings. She was the one we called on for the perfect dress, flowers , or help decorating the house; maybe advice in a situation.  Her response was always on target and she was always there for us.

She may have sent you the perfect card or said just what you needed to hear at a crucial time.   You were blessed to have her as a trusted friend, coworker or acquaintance.

A devoted Christian, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother; a servant; Suzanne defined those words.  What an honor for us to have this beautiful lady as part of our family.  She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.

Suzanne has left a legacy of love, family, and faith for which we are forever grateful.

In light of the Covid-19 virus, a graveside service will be conducted for family only. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a later date for all her friends and family.

We will keep you updated for the memorial service on Caringbridge.

Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
