Hello Everyone,
Our visit with the surgeons yesterday focused on my immediate recovery i.e. diet and exercise and a discussion about next steps. Both surgeons were very happy with my daily progress and encouraged me to continue with my present goals. 😊
Unfortunately the liver surgeon was unable to remove 2 of the tumors in my liver due to their proximity to major vessels. In addition he had already removed about half of my liver. From the get-go he felt that my safety in terms of outcome was paramount to removing the tumors. We discussed the options that might be on the table at this point keeping in mind that the options will have to be redefined at a later date after a CT scan to see if there is an increase in tumor size since my CT scans in August. The top 2 options at this point are ablation of the tumors (usually intra-abdominal radio frequency direct therapy) or medical treatment with a drug delivered IM monthly that may shrink the tumors or at least keep them from increasing in size. We agreed to give my liver a couple of months to fully recover and then convene a team consisting of my surgeon, oncologist and a radiology oncologist to zero in on the best approach.
I have a lot going for me and I am dialed in on the +positive+! One step at a time with all the love and energy that you are sending gives me hope and strength. Thank you for you continued support.
