Journal entry by Susan Angell

Hi Everyone!

Looking back at a month ago, I never could have imagined going through everything I went through. When I woke up on the 12th, it felt like I had a mountain to climb. I did. Every day I climb a little further up it. I am able to walk without a walker very slowly. I walked .2 miles today with my physical therapist and it took me nearly 8 minutes. I was very out of breath, not because I was having lung issues, but because my body is so out of shape still.

Speaking of lungs, mine are completely clear, they sound like healthy lungs. This is not normal, I feel so incredibly lucky. My home nurse showed me the pictures of my lungs throughout my hospital stay. At one point my lungs were completely covered with pneumonia and covid. I was knocking on death's door. Miraculously, days later my lungs were completely clear. All that was left was some fluid around my heart to get rid of. This just shouldn't happen, scientifically speaking. The only explanation is that all of your prayers, and good vibes worked. I am thankful for that.

I have attempted to cook a couple meals but don't have the endurance to finish cooking a whole meal. It feels good to try though. I really appreciate those that have dropped off meals for us, or sent gift cards and money so we could order takeout. It really has made this recovery a lot easier.

The weeks are not very eventful now that I am home. I have physical therapy twice a week, nurse visits twice a week, and I also am talking to a therapist to get through the trauma of all this. I am starting to feel better mentally, but occasionally am reminded of something and get a little emotional. I am finally falling asleep at a decent time and sleeping through the night too. That itself is making life so much better.

Thank you for your continued prayers. They are working, and I am so grateful for all of you.
