Susan’s Story

Site created on September 20, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Yesterday our mom was brought to the ER after experiencing some confusion and dizziness. Sadly, the CT scan revealed a two inch tumor on her left frontal lobe.

Jason, Megan and I are at Abbott Northwestern with her now. We met with the Neurologist this morning. As of now, he believes it’s a benign meningioma. She is getting an MRI now which will provide additional information and help confirm the type of tumor.

Surgery to remove the tumor has been scheduled for next Wednesday morning at Abbott. The tumor has caused a bit of swelling in her brain and has been given medication to reduce the swelling before the surgery. Her blood pressure has been high as well so will need time for that to come down.

Mom seems to doing well considering but at times she doesn’t seem to be fully aware of what’s going on and has episodes of confusion and is very tired.

We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. In the meantime, we ask that you not reach out to my mom directly.

Please feel free to reach out to Jason and I directly and we will have mom contact people as she feels up to it.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. They are much appreciated.

A message/update from Mom

Mom would like to thank you all again for the lovely cards and well wishes. They’ve meant a lot to her. She continues to ask for prayers for her recovery.

Mom’s medical team is in the process of transferring her to a facility in Red Wing on Wednesday that specializes in brain injury rehabilitation and are formulating the next steps for her recovery.

Mom’s doing well but becomes physically and mentally exhausted easily, especially after therapy. Her medical team has requested visits be kept to a minimum and limited to 20 minutes or less at this time so she can rest and regain energy to focus on therapy for continued healing. If you’d like to visit, please coordinate with me or Jason beforehand.

If you’d like to send a card, you can send them to her home address and Jason and Megan will bring them to her. We can give you the address if you need it.

Thank you all for your continued prayers, love, support and well wishes. Please keep them coming!

Much love,

Sue, Jennifer, and Jason
